Overview
MG Comet is being launched in three variants namely Pace, Play and Plush and with the claim of being the cheapest in the country. The Comet Pace variant is priced at Rs 7.98 lakh, Play Rs 9.28 lakh and Plush Rs 9.98 lakh ex-showroom. MG Comet will be available in five different color options namely Candy White, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, Candy White with Starry Black Roof and Apple Green with Starry Black Roof.
A user traveling 1000 km in a month will have to pay just Rs 519 to charge Comet. The two-door Comet is designed to be big inside and compact on the side. The Comet is powered by a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. The MG Comet EV is powered by an electric motor that produces 42 bhp of power and a maximum torque of 110 Nm. The Comet can provide a range of up to 230 km on a single charge.
The 3.3 kW charger was able to charge 10-80 percent in 5 hours and 0-100 percent in 7 hours. The Only Drawback is its Only Support AC Charging that means It will not get the Fast Charging Facility. The new car comes with premium features. On the exterior, the main features that MG has prepared for the Comet EV are LED headlamps, front and rear LED light bars, LED tail lights, chrome door handles and 12-inch steel wheels with wheel covers.
LOOKS & DESIGN
Literally its looks like a Real Comet from other universe – It seeks Public Attraction in a massive way especially in Rural Areas & we Experienced it through out last week. You can choose different colour options as you like, and our Favourite is the Apple Green Colour.
The front has large LED DRLs and cube-shaped headlamps with fog laps. The charging port is at the front with LED illuminations. To some extent, the rear part is designed like the front part.
The design looks like a boxy in the side view. Only 1 door is provided and it is a very wide door. This Door also includes access to the back. A small quarter glass portion is also provided. It is India's smallest car at just 2.9 meters long, 1.5 meters wide and 1.6 meters tall, and with 12-inch smaller wheels pushed into the corners, its wheelbase is 2,010 mm.
FEATURES RICH
Cool Features The new car comes with premium features. There is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-tone interior, connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and digital instrument cluster. The vehicle uses iSmart technology with 55 connected car features. The vehicle will respond to over 100 voice commands. A one-touch recliner seat for easy access to the back seat. Dual front airbags, ESE, tire pressure monitor system and reverse parking camera. The vehicle has ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchor. The vehicle has 17 hot stamping panels for structural safety. MG says it has conducted 39 stringent tests to ensure battery and vehicle safety.
Changes have been made to suit Indian conditions. Built on the GSEV platform, the vehicle measures 2974 mm in length, 1505 mm in width, 1640 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2010 mm. Four people can travel in a three-door car... The air-con and battery thermal management system have been modified according to the hot climate of India....
INTERIOR SPACE
One of the Major Highlight of the comet is the Interior Space, Hence it’s a tiny Car but MG Managed to give more Airey and Spacious Cabin, the big Windshield and Side doors help to bring more Light to interior. The Interior Fabrics and Elements are Feels like Little bit Premium and the Buttons used in the Steering wheels are very Similar to Air Pods. However, Some Dummy Buttons Still Placed on the Steering Wheel. The glasshouse is massive, letting in a lot of light and giving a superb view out.
RIDE & HANDLING
first things first it grabs a it is huge on curiosity value. everyone wants to take a closer look at
it they're curious about it they want to know more about the specs and features. with the power and torque figures that the comet has you can't expect performance to be electrifying and it isn't then again this is the city car its job is to keep up with the flow of traffic and it does that job really well. you have three modes to play with and even in eco mode you won't find yourself being left back behind the traffic normal mode adds in a bit more power and sport mode adds in that little bit extra but even so you won't be blowing by other cars what each Progressive mode actually does is makes overtaking a little bit easier the little mg comfortably gets up to speed and it expectedly fits right in in crawling traffic there's no creep mode but throttle modulation is easy overall refinement is also pretty good of course helped by the electric motor running silently in the background the other virtue is size the steering is light as you want it to be the Turning circle is really small and manoeuvrability is exceptional u turns parking are just so so easy to pull off
but the comet also has its comfort zone outside of which the weaker points come
to the fore the comet feels it's best at average city speeds and on wealth paved
surfaces because as soon as you go over a pothole an expansion joint or even a rambler strip you will feel it in the cabin. The Steering feels too light you can drive it by one hand.
Unfortunately you don’t have a Arm for keeping your left hand idle. Also you get a Manual Adjustment for Day and Night IRVM and integrated USB port.
Very Easy to crawl between city traffic and much convenient for tiny parking as well. You can call it as a Absolute City car without any Doubt.
VERDICT
In a way it’s a Practical Tiny City Car. Eventhough its price is little bit confusing for Rs.7.98 to Rs.9.98 ( Ex.showroom) for a Tiny car with 2 Door and You can Buy Another four-door Ev’s for this Price. If you choose practicality and the right four-door car, it can be a difficult question to answer. If the price was a little lower, this would have been a huge hit.
